North Dakota Century Code will not reflect changes approved by the 63rd Legislative Assembly until July 1, 2013. Effective Dates of 2013 Legislation shows the effective dates of bills passed during the 63rd Legislative Assembly.

Senator Ray Holmberg has been named Chairman of the Legislative Management.  Vice Chairman is Representative Al Carlson.

Legislative Management meetings are tentatively scheduled for May 20th, 2013, to prioritize required and recommended studies, and June 10th, 2013, to form the interim committees.

BISMARCK - North Dakotans have two options to get legislative information or to leave a message for their legislator.

Representative Karen Rohr was recognized last month during the Council of State Governments Conference in Austin, Texas as being one of 48 graduates of the annual 2012 Toll Fellows Leadership Program.  Representative Rohr participated in leadership training bringing together state officials from all three branches of government for a five-day boot camp to become better leaders.  Representative Rohr has served in the House since 2011 in District 31.

Regular session will convene at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, and Joint session will convene at 1:00 p.m., January 8, 2013, for the Oaths of Office to newly elected state officials and the State of the State Address.

The Governor's State of the State address will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in the House Chamber.

Joint Session will convene Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 1:15 p.m., in the House Chamber for the State of the Judiciary Address.

Joint Session will convene Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 1:15 p.m., in the House Chamber for the Tribal-state relationship message to the House and Senate.

Brittani Quick began work with the Legislative Council as a fiscal assistant, Irene Voth as a proofreader, and Ron Landenberger as a legislative tour guide for the 2013 legislative session.

North Dakotans will vote on the following five measures on November 6:

CONSTITUTIONAL MEASURE NO. 1
ELIMINATION OF AUTHORITY TO LEVY POLL TAX

The Legislative Assembly adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 4006, which would repeal Article X, Section 6, of the Constitution of North Dakota, which allows the Legislative Assembly to levy an annual poll tax of not more than $1.50 on every male inhabitant of the state over 21 and under 50 years of age, except paupers, idiots, insane persons, and Indians not taxed.

The 17-member Legislative Management meets November 13 and 14 at the State Capitol to hear reports and recommendations from the 2011-12 interim committees.
